Srinagar, July 21 (KNS): Former Deputy Mayor and Senior Political Leader Sheikh Mohammad Imran on Thursday expressed deep shock & grief over the unfortunate Nowpora fire incident in which two residential houses & Darul Uloom were gutted besides causing minor damage to a nearby community hall.

In his statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Imran termed the conflagration as hapless and dismaying while extending his solidarity to the fire victims at this time of gloom.

“The pain of the fire victims and those studying in Darul Uloom cannot be expressed in words. The disasters like this take people from riches to rags but as responsible citizens we must come out to the rescue of the suffering families and give them hope and support to overcome this distressing situation,” he said.

Imran urged the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Aijaz Asad to intervene and dispatch the rescue and relief teams on ground zero to assess the losses incurred.

“The enormity of the tragedy is deeply saddening so I humbly request the administration to take necessary steps to rehabilitate the fire victims to a safer place besides assessing the losses and providing adequate compensation to them in order to cope up with this calamity,” he said.(KNS)
