Sheikh Imran demands early release of Er. Rashid

Srinagar, July 14 (KNS): Former Deputy Mayor SMC, Sheikh Mohammad Imran on Thursday urged the LG led administration to expedite the early release of incarcerated mainstream leader Er. Rashid on humanitarian grounds.

In a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Imran termed his release as highly imperative while referring to him as the "son of the soil" who served the people under the ambit of constitution.

"He is an efficient leader who was elected democratically by a thumping majority of the people. He would always listen to the public grievances & resolve their matters. People need this stalwart leader to represent their socio-political and economic aspirations in the Legislative Assembly," he said.

Imran asserted that he is of the firm belief that Er. Rashid will continue to abide by the law & democratic values. "His release will undoubtedly further strengthen the roots of democracy in Kashmir division and will reflect the true empowerment of public opinion," he said.

He also urged that all politicians and civil society members should leave their trivial difference and unanimously push for early release of Er. Rashid, who has spent nearly two years under imprisonment now. (KNS)
