Jammu, Apr 2 (KNS): People's Conference president Sajad Gani Lone on Thursday described Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary's conduct in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly as "shameless" and a "new low", accusing him of mocking National Conference legislator Dr Bashir Ahmed Veeri during an emotional moment a day earlier.
MLA Handwara, called the Deputy CM a "habitual offender" and an "embarrassment for the Legislative Assembly".
"I have my differences with Dr Veeri. But as a human being, I hold him in high esteem. On a personal level, not political, I take exception to this shameless behaviour," MLA Lone told reporters outside the Assembly as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS).
Recalling the period after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, MLA Lone said most political leaders, including himself and Dr Veeri, were jailed.

The Handwara MLA said the Deputy CM appeared to be "a gift" that the Chief Minister had given to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for enduring hardships.
He said the Deputy CM needed "serious coaching in basic manners" and asserted that the Chief Minister should show "some humility" and intervene to end the "non-stop embarrassment".
MLA Lone's remarks came after Choudhary earlier in the day hit out at Veeri, calling his emotional outburst in the Assembly over the reservation issue a "drama" and accusing him of misleading the public.
Meanwhile, MLA Dr Bashir Veeri remained absent from the Assembly proceedings on Thursday, a day after his remarks in the House. (KNS)
