Srinagar, 08 Oct (KNS) : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Women’s Wing President and MLA Habba Kadal Shameema Firdous Thursday visited the historic Khanqah-e-Moula in Srinagar and reviewed the proposed conservation and restoration works at the revered spiritual and historical centre associated with Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA).
She said that around ?4.93 crore has been earmarked for the preservation, restoration and allied works at the historic Khanqah-e-Moula. "The proposed works include conservation of the historic woodwork, restoration of the traditional roof, repair and restoration of Jafri/Panjrakari and papier-mâché work, restoration of stonework and Devri flooring, besides drainage, roofing, electrical works, lightning protection and fire-safety measures. A dedicated Fire and Emergency Services quarter is also proposed to strengthen preparedness for emergencies."
Shamima Firdous said preserving the historical, spiritual and architectural character of Khanqah-e-Moula is of utmost importance and every possible measure must be taken to safeguard this great heritage for future generations. Referring to the initiatives undertaken during the governments of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah for the preservation and development of Khanqahs, shrines, temples and other important historical and cultural sites, she said the present government is equally committed to carrying this legacy forward. She added that efforts are continuing across Jammu and Kashmir to ensure the preservation and restoration of religious and historical heritage, including ancient shrines and temples.
She further said the ongoing efforts at Khanqah-e-Moula reflect the government’s seriousness towards preserving the spiritual sanctity, historic significance and unique architectural heritage of the revered shrine, so that this invaluable legacy can be passed on to future generations in all its glory.
Officials from the Archaeology Department, R&B Department and Khuddam-e-Ziyarat Shah-e-Hamadan, besides local residents, were present on the occasion.(KNS)
