Srinagar, Apr 26 (KNS): Jailed Hurriyat Leader and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s close aide and media advisor Aftab Hilali shah Alias Shahid-ul-Islam has tested positive for Covid-19 in Tihar jail according to his family.

Shahid-ul-Islam’s Wife While talking to Kashmir News Service said that they have come to know that he has been tested positive for Covid-19 at New Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

She also said that he should be released as he is suffering from diabetes and some other ailments.

"Being Hurriyat leader, he has been a Peace seeker always and I urge government of India to release him on humanitarian grounds",she added.

Shahid ul Islam was arrested by NIA in connection with money laundering case along with other six hurriyat leaders in 2017 under sections 120 B, 121, 121 A of IPC and sections 13, 16, 17, 18, 20, 38, 39, 40 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967. (KNS)
