Ramban, Sep 15 (KNS): As a mark of solidarity with the striking SSA teachers, National Conference leader and district president Ramban Sajjad Shaheen sat on Dharna with them and regretted non-seriousness of the state administration, especially the Department of Education in fulfilling their genuine and long pending demands.
“It is a matter of concern for the society as a whole to see teachers protesting in streets and sitting on dharnas and hunger strike, Shaheen said in a statement, adding that instead of rewarding and acknowledging their services and huge role in shaping the destiny of younger generations, they are forced to take recourse to agitation path.
Shaheen further said that, “It doesn’t augur well for the State Government to force teachers to take to streets”, and expressed concern over delay in resolving their issues to end the stalemate, having potential of jeopardizing academic career of thousands of students, directly hit by the strikes.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He also expressed distress over withholding the salaries of various segments of workers, especially SSA teachers and not bringing them under the ambit of Seventh Pay Commission recommendations and hoped that uncertainty with regard to their service careers would end and they will be provided whatever is due to them so that they devote to their duties with missionary spirit.
Shaheen urged the Governor's administration to look into their demand and sought immediate dialogue with the striking SSA teachers, as the previous PDP-BJP government treated them shabbily and with callousness. (KNS)
