Castigating PDP-BJP Government for leaving the rain hit farmers and flood sufferers in lurch, National Conference District President Ramban Sajjad Shaheen on Saturday said the problems of the people have increased manifold and the response of the administration was sadistic due to lack of political direction.
During his extensive visit of Bajnar and Mahu-Mangit areas, Shaheen took stock of the problems faced to the people and heard their woes on account of damages caused to crops and residential dwellings. He said no compensation has been paid to farmers whose holdings have eroded due to flash floods and crops damaged due to heavy rains.
Shaheen said that maize cultivation has been the only avocation of the farmers and due to flash floods and incessant rains this crops has suffered massive damages. He urged the administration to provide six months’ free rations to the farmers and carry out the assessment of losses on immediate basis for processing their compensation cases.
The District President also expressed anguish over the lackadaisical approach of the government towards development and maintenance of the utility services.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe said the government is almost invisible on ground as a result of which restoration works are getting least attention.
During the visit, the suffering people listed various issues which needed immediate attention of the government. They said the railways have failed in providing jobs to local youth notwithstanding commitments made time and again. They also complained that no compensation has been paid to the land owners who's land has come under Kawna-Kumbla roads.
Shaheen expressed deep anguish over delay in taking up the two-MW Micro Hydel Project which had been sanctioned during the Omar led government. He demanded taking up of the Kawna Micro Hydel Project besides three other sanctioned projects at Pogal, Paristan and Ukharhal immediately.
