Urges Administration to make agriculture seeds available to farmers


Banihal, March 16 (KNS) : National Conference leader and District president Ramban Sajjad Shaheen conducted extensive tour of Maligam, Panla, Ukharhal, Bass areas of Tehsil Ukharhal and interacted with local villagers and took stock of the problems faced by the inhabitants of these villages.
 
People from various sections of the society met Shaheen and apprised him about their day-to-day problems like shortage of drinking water and inadequate facilities of electricity, drinking water, health care, shortage of essential commodities besides shortage of teaching staff in local schools.
 
It was also informed to Shaheen that dozens of kanals of land besides some houses have been damaged due to construction of Shalgarh-Panchal road under PMGSY in Adhal, Panla, Nowra, Khwrihal and Panchal and no compensation has been paid to the affected families so far.
 
People also complained about unavailability of agriculture seeds in the entire district.
Shaheen has assured the local villagers that their demands will be taken up with the concerned authorities for early redressal.
 
Mr Shaheen appealed to the Administration to make seeds and fertilizers available to the farmers as early as possible as the sowing season is approaching and shortage of seeds has posed a serious challenge to farmers and is threatening to leave a lasting impact on agriculture and allied activities. The Department of Agriculture must make efforts to procure adequate stock of paddy and other agricultural seeds as
Farmers in the region are the most affected by the shortage as people have to purchase seeds from the local market  on higher prices, he added.
 
Shaheen also drew the attention of the L.Governor led State administration towards deficiencies in education and health sectors and sought immediate filling up of vacant posts as also stocking of three months ration in all snow bound areas besides adequate quantity of medicines in the health institutions. 
 
The district president was accompanied by Block presidents Riyaz Ahmed Mir, Abdul Hamid Khan, Nisar Ahmed Sohil, Master Bahar Ahmed Naik, Mujibur Rahman, Mushtaq Ahmed and others.(KNS)
