Srinagar, Oct 02 (KNS): Welcoming the statement of UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon on Kashmir, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Sunday said unlike India, the people of Jammu Kashmir and Pakistan have always favoured the world body’s intervention.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah said the people of Jammu Kashmir and Pakistan have always sought and are seeking the intervention of UN in resolving the Kashmir dispute but India not only created impediments in this regard but through its stubbornness always finds excuses to avoid the dialogue.
“The UN particularly Mr Ban Ki Moon should take notice as to why India is continuously denying its mediation and is unabatedly trampling the human rights in occupied Kashmir. It should be debated on international forum as to what action should be initiated against India so that the countries responsible for creating a war-like situation are isolated,” he said.
“As far as UN mediation (to resolve Kashmir) is concerned, Pakistan and the people of Jammu Kashmir have always welcomed; in fact, Pakistan has practically contributed in this regard but India was always in search of way-out from talks and diverting world’s attention from Kashmir sometimes by putting conditions on dialogue and sometimes by orchestrating the fake encounters and provoking tensions on LoC,” Shah said, adding, “The people of Jammu Kashmir always favoured a meaningful dialogue to decide their political future.”
Shah said the denial of access to international agencies by India regarding the “surgical strikes” brings home the conclusion that “this all was done to divert the attention of world from the killings and the large-scale destruction (of human lives) carried out by pellet guns in Kashmir”.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“UN should get who the real enemy of peace in region is. Obviously, none other than India is a big hindrance to the establishment of peace in the subcontinent,” he said.
Hailing the statements of China, Russia, and Iran regarding the Indo-Pak relations and Kashmir, Shabir Ahmad Shah said while the suggestions of these nations are commendable, these countries are duty-bound to play role in this regard.
The DFP chairman appealed the world leadership to take notice of the reign of oppression unleashed by the Indian occupational forces on unarmed Kashmiris. He, however, thanked the people of Pakistan, its political and religious leadership, and student organisations saying Kashmiris are indebted to their diplomatic, political, and moral support.
Shah reiterated his appeal to nation to continue the freedom struggle with sincerity saying, “We should not let pessimism and despondency over-sway us. We have rendered innumerous sacrifices and the world is keenly observing our situation. Insha Allah (God Willing), we will achieve our goal very soon.”
Meanwhile, Shabir Ahmad Shah expressed grief over the martyrdom of a youth Mohammad Muzaffar Wani (Chek, Kawoosa) and extended his solidarity with the bereaved family. “We equally share the pain and grief and pray for forbearance to the bereaved family,” Shah said. (KNS)
