Srinagar, Jan 15 (KNS): During the year 2015, the incarcerated Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah was kept under detention for 215 days and was not allowed to offer the Friday congregation prayers today, its spokesperson said.

Giving details of Shah’s detention, the spokesperson said, “Till the end of 2015, Shabir Ahmad Shah was kept under house arrest for a period of 215 days during which he was barred from offering 44 Friday and 2 Eid prayers. This amounts to a total of 29 months of house detention with restrictions of 178 Friday and 9 Eid prayers since his release in 2011. He continues to be under house arrest this year.”“Such detention of Shabir Ahmad Shah clearly implies that administration is not willing to allow the resistance leadership to carry out its political activities and is reneging from its promises
of providing political space to its opponents.”
