Srinagar, Apr 23 (KNS): Even if the Opposition parties accuse government of admitting publicly that law and order situation in valley has gone bad, authorities on Saturday released many separatists from police stations and house arrest. The police Saturday released Democratic Freedom Party Chief and Hurriyat (G) leader Shabir Ahmad Shah from police custody after two months.
He was however, immediately placed under house arrest at his Sanat Nagar residence in uptown Srinagar.
Shah was placed under detention at Rajbagh Police Station for two months. He was arrested during a night raid on 24th of February and was since lodged in Police station Rajbagh.
Meanwhile Democratic Freedom Party ridiculed the house arrest of shah soon after release and said government was not sincere in its intentions.
In a statement issued here, a DFP spokesperson said Shah was arrested on February 24 during a night raid and lodged in Rajbagh police station. “The administration didn’t even provide any reason for his arrest and now, after two months, instead of releasing him again placed the pro-freedom leader under house detention.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
The spokesman said, “Through such actions, the democratic claims of the so-called government have proven hollow. Its attitude towards the resistance leadership and people is condemnable. There is police and military rule prevailing in the state,”
he added that Shabir Ahmad Shah has spent most part of his life in jails and interrogation centers but “this didn’t deter him from pursuing his mission and he remained committed to his stand”.
