Srinagar, Sep 03 (KNS): Reacting against the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks that “Vikas (development)” and “Vishwas (trust)” are the key to address the problem of Kashmir, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah termed it “ridiculous”.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah said Modi should instead talk of “vishwasghaat (betrayal)” which Indian leaders have always done with the people of Jammu Kashmir.
He said Jammu Kashmir is not a “problem” but a “dispute” which has nothing to do with the issues like progress and development. “Also, the issues like PSA, AFSPA, pellet guns, etc are the offshoots of this (Kashmir) dispute and to sideline the real issue and talking about development is not going to help them (New Delhi) in any way,” he said.
“So, Indian leaders particularly its Prime Minister Narendra Modi must keep the plans of progress and development with themselves and express willingness to resolve the Kashmir issue through the implementation of the UN resolutions or tripartite dialogue,” he added.
Shah made it clear that the four walls of jails do not scare the pro-freedom people as thousands continue to languish in prisons and are exhibiting steadfastness.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“The leaders like Dr Muhammad Qasim Faktoo and Dr Shafi Shariati, and others who are languishing in jails from last more than 20 years. They never talked of ‘Vikas’ and ‘Vishwas’ but continued on their stand regarding Kashmir dispute while exhibiting utmost steadfastness throughout the period,” he said.
“India since last 69 years have killed lakhs of Kashmiris, incarcerated thousands, has been involved in molestation of our women-folk, and has put a blanket ban on the restrictions of resistance leadership. Even our children are not spared; they are killed, maimed, and blinded. Was this all about the development? Indian leaders must read writing on the wall that our movement is not for progress and development but for the freedom from Indian rule,” Shah added.
On Modi’s peace and unity remarks, Shah said New Delhi’s wrong policies and Indian forces’ barbarism turned the heavenly Valley into a hell with funerals having become a daily routine. “So, the need is to resolve the Kashmir issue in order to ensure peace in the South Asia,” Shah said. (KNS)
