Students are our future, any vengeful action against them will invite strong protests: Shah

Srinagar, Feb 19 (KNS): Strongly condemning the nocturnal raids and crackdown on Kashmiri students in Delhi and those of Jawaharlal Nehru University, the incarcerated Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah, on Friday said Indian government, under a well thought-out plan, is pushing the students to the wall.
He also expressed strong resentment over the registering of sedition charges on JNUSU leader, Kanhaiya Kumar and ex-Delhi University lecturer, SAR Geelani, saying, Indian rulers are suppressing every voice raised in favour of the oppressed people of Kashmir, by force.
“Students are our future and any kind of vengeful action against them will yield serious repercussions,” he said.
Terming the protests by justice-loving students of Indian universities as justified, Shah said Indian rulers and media instead of taking lessons from these students are resorting to stubbornness and lawless attitude.
“Indian rulers are media want to run the educational institutes as per their wishes. Now, if crackdown on students is not stopped, the protests would be the only option left for us,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Meanwhile, a DFP spokesperson while commenting over the continuous house arrest of party Chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah said, “Today again, he (Shah) was not allowed to offer Friday prayers. What justification can these so-called champions provide with regard to continuous house imprisonment of Hurriyat leaders?”
Giving details of Shah’s detention, the spokesperson said: “This year Shah Sahib was barred from offering 8Friday prayers and kept under detention for 50 days.”
“Such detention of Shabir Ahmad Shah clearly implies that administration is not willing to allow the resistance leadership to carry out its political activities and is reneging from its promises of providing space to its political opponents. A close vigil is maintained on every person who comes to visit Shah at his residence. Despite all this, the resistance leadership will continue to carry the freedom movement forward,” the spokesperson said. (KNS)
