Srinagar, Jan 13 (KNS): Terming the Commander Shaheed Sajad Ahmad Bhat as a great Mujahid, the incarcerated Chairman of a Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah on Wednesday paid glowing tributes to the martyr.
In a statement to KNS, Shah while remembering Shaheed Sajad for his contribution to the freedom movement, said the Shaheed Commander through his velour and bravery on battlefield set an example for others.
Hailing Shaheed Sajad as an exemplary Mujahid, Shah said the Commander braved all odds and continued his struggle for freedom with full zeal and vigor.
Paying tributes to martyr, Shah severely condemned the atrocities unleashed by police and administration upon the people of Zewan saying such measures will not help authorities in any way."By resorting to such repressive measures, authorities cannot break the pro-freedom sentiments of people rather it makes the people's resolve towards freedom struggle much stronger," he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
On the directions of Shabir Ahmad Shah, a delegation led by district Pulwama President, Muhammad Amin visited the martyrs' family in Zewan and expressed solidarity and sympathy with them.
Meanwhile, the DFP Chairman while condemning the administration for "complicating" the issue of martyrs' memorial in Pulwama said authorities are actually arresting youths on various pretexts.
He said such attitude on part of authorities is against law while maintaining that people have every right to remember their beloved ones who sacrificed their lives while fighting the tyranny and oppression.
Shabir Ahmad Shah reiterated his support to the martyrs' memorial campaign.
The Democratic Freedom Party also supports the post Friday protest call given by APHC. (KNS)
