Srinagar, Oct 24 (KNS): On the occasion of 'Youm-e-Aashura', the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah has appealed the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir to "uphold the great tradition of Shia-Sunni unity to foil the nefarious designs of imperialist forces"."By exhibiting unity among ourselves, we have to counter every challenge posed to us by the Indian occupational rule," Shah said in a statement issued to press on Saturday.Shah said apart from military occupation, there is a growing challenge of cultural aggression from India and we must rise above our sectarian differences to overcome such challenges.
"India is subjugating us on several fronts. To weaken us internally, it is trying to attack our faith and to foil such ploys of this fascist nation we have to strengthen the unity within our ranks," Shah said.Terming the life and sacrifices of Hazrat Hussain Bin Ali (RA) as guide to success, Shah said the resistance camps must follow the example of the Prophet's (SAW) grandson in letter and spirit."Hazrat Hussain's (RA) sacrifice is a guide for pro-freedom camps to spark a revolution against the tyranny and oppression," Shah asserted.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Justifying the protests by Muslims in Bhaderwah against the desecration of Holy Qur'an, Shabir Ahmad Shah said the religious sentiments of Muslims are being hurt "under a well planned conspiracy""To respect and revere the holy book is part of our faith and any such act that violates its sanctity is intolerable," he said and demanded the perpetrators of the crime be brought to book at earliest.
Meanwhile, according to party spokesperson, DFP district president Budgam along with a delegation including Molvi Bashir Ahmad and Abdul Hamid participated in Muharram procession there.
He said the party's district president Shopian Tanveer Ahmad visited the families of martyrs Arshad Ahmad Sheikh and Adil Ahmad Khanday and expressed solidarity and sympathy with the bereaved.He also conveyed condolence on behalf of DFP chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah to the bereaved families, the spokesperson added.
