Srinagar, May 23 (KNS): The division of Jammu and Kashmir is unacceptable for us and our struggle is not for any particular section but we demand the right to self-determination for all regions and religions of the state. These words were expressed by the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah while interacting with a delegation of Akali Dal Man on Monday at party’s Sanat Nagar headquarters. The delegation was led by Gurdeep Singh Man.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah while interacting with the Akali Dal members said, “We will never allow the RSS plans of division of J&K succeed at any cost and are committed to secure and safeguard the interests of all the communities of the state.”
Shah also termed the remarks of BJP leader Lal Singh as “frustration” saying Kashmiris will never leave Jammu Muslims at the mercy of communal forces.
Hailing the stand of Sikh community vis-à-vis Kashmir dispute, Shah said though conspiracies were hatched to make Sikhs migrate from the state, but this community didn’t fall into anyone’s trap and preferred to live amongst their Muslim brethren here.
Similarly, Shah said, Kashmiri Pandits were made to leave Valley under a well-planned conspiracy. “We have been making efforts to bring Kashmiri Pandits back to Valley but some elements are running their political shops by exploiting their return. These people are not interested in the rehabilitation of Pandits but are exploiting them for their personal gains.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWe wish our Pandit brethren return to their native places instead of living in the separate colonies,” he said.
Shah told the Sikh delegation that New Delhi is bent to change the Muslim majority character of the state for which it continues to hatch conspiracies in the garb of Sainik Colonies, settling of non-Kashmiri residents, shelters for homeless, and Industrial Policy, etc. “But we will never let them succeed,” he said.
On minorities, Shah made it clear that “we demand the right to self-determination for all religions. Until Kashmir issue is not resolved as per the UN resolutions or through tripartite talks, the peace in the region is a distant dream”.
During the interaction, both parties agreed to deliberate on the issues to create mutual trust and understanding and to support each other. The recent killings in Handwara were also discussed on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Shabir Ahmad Shah expressed grief over the martyrdom of five Jaish-e-Muhamamd mujahideen in Drugmulla, Kupwara and paid tributes to them.
Shah also condoled the demise of mother of renowned journalist Yusuf Jameel and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. As such, a party delegation led by its general secretary Moulana Abdullah Tari visited the bereaved family and expressed solidarity with them.
