As Amnesty International released its latest report depicting the grave human rights violations taking place in the State of Jammu and Kashmir by the hands of Indian forces, senior pro-freedom leader and Chairman Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah Friday urged the world powers to “shun their traditional silence” on the issue and “play proactive role in putting end to human rights violations and excesses committed by Indian occupational forces.”
In a statement to KNS Shah was however quick to add that the human rights body has relied much on government sources in framing the report as “according to independent sources, the human rights violations committed by Indian brutal forces is much more brute and grave.”
“During last 25 years, apart from lakhs of killings, the oppression by Indian forces gave rise to about 25000 widows and nearly one lakh orphans besides ten thousand people were subjected to enforced disappearances, not to mention of loss of properties,” Shah said, adding that heart wrenching incidents like Kunan Poshpora, Jigarpora, Chanapora and dozens of similar tragedies and massacres including
Sopore, Kupwara, Handwara, Hawal Bijbehara, Mash’ali Mohalla and Hazratbal have inflicted deep wounds on Kashmiris.
“Thousands of unmarked graves here question the justice loving people of world as for what crimes were they murdered?Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWas gun the last option for India to silence the voices of Kashmiris for demanding their birth right of self-determination? Even Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru was hanged in such inhuman way which was obviously a murder of law and justice the example of which cannot be seen anywhere in the world,” Shah said.
“We fully support the Amnesty International’s demand of probing the killings by any independent investigation body and that Indian forces should be brought to book without letting them enjoy the unbridled powers of AFSPA. “It is unfortunate that whole world cries for protection of animal rights and no one cares for human rights in this part of globe. We live in that part of world where bullets are showered into chests of youth in broad day light, banned and lethal weapons are used against civilians and culprits are left to roam free,” he added.
Lashing out at Mufti Sayeed led government, Shah said, “Respective chief ministers of the State have always played their active role in strengthening the forcible and occupation of India for their petty gains.”
Meanwhile, DFP spokesperson while coming down heavily on state administration over continuously placing Shah under house arrest, said, “Mufti’s ‘battle of ideas’ was actually aimed at deceiving the world while as gun and state power run the affairs here.”
