‘Freedom of religion’ non-existent in J&K: Moulana Tari

Srinagar, Jan 20 (KNS): The incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah was again disallowed to offer the congregational Friday prayers and this has been continuing since 2011.
In a statement issued to KNS, party’s general secretary Moulana Abdullah Tari said through such actions, the administration has validated our point that there is no such thing as ‘freedom of religion’ in the state.
He criticised authorities over Shabir Ahmad Shah’s continuous house arrest saying the democracy is Jammu Kashmir is nothing but a “farce”.
“The attitude of the state government towards the resistance leadership and people is totally uncalled-for,” he said.
“Even though authorities would justify their illegal actions in the name of maintaining law and order; but the reality is that government is incapable of facing the resistance leadership on a political platform.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
Tari said the so-called government rules the roost in the state just by the dint of military power.
Meanwhile, DFP general secretary paid glorious tributes to Lashkar-e-Toyiba commander Abu Musaib saying “we’re indebted to the sacrifices of martyrs and committed to fulfill their mission”. He expressed condolence and solidarity with martyr’s family.
Moulana also condemned the Valley-wide nocturnal raids and arrests by police saying the parents of the detainees are not allowed to meet them. “Every just and genuine voice is choked,” he said.
On the directions of Shabir Ahmad Shah, a DFP delegation visited Islamabad to express condolence and solidarity with Mohammad Ayoub Bhat over the demise of his sister. The delegation also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and forbearance to the bereaved family. (KNS)
