Srinagar, Jan 18 (KNS): After remaining closed for two consecutive days, the Srinagar-Jammu Highway, the only road connecting Valley with rest of the country was on Wednesday opened by the authorities for the stranded vehicles to proceed to their destinations.
Pertinently, the 300 km long Srinagar-Jammu highway remained closed from past two days followed the slippery condition of roads that triggered after the heavy snowfall in the area.
Talking to KNS, SSP Traffic Srinagar, Fayaz Ahmad Lone said, “Following the road clearance, the stranded vehicles from the either sides were only allowed to ply towards their destinations.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
He said that no fresh vehicles were allowed to ply from the either sides. “The decision for allowing the vehicles on Thursday on the either sides of highway will be taken according to the weather conditions,” Lone said.
Meanwhile, the roads in the business hub Lal Chowk and and other Srinagar parts continued to remain inundated thereby resulted in the severe problems in the movement of traffic and pedestrians. (KNS)
