Bandipora, April 17 (KNS) :
Government High School Vewan in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district is grappling with an acute shortage of teaching staff, severely affecting the academic environment and raising serious concerns among locals.

According to available details, the school has a total enrollment of 67 students but is being managed by only five teachers, all appointed under the ReT (Rehbar-e-Taleem) scheme. Shockingly, since its upgradation to a high school in 2019, the institution has been functioning without a Headmaster or any Master, leaving administrative and academic supervision in disarray.

Adding to the concerns, one Master, who is officially drawing salary from High School Vewan, has reportedly been deployed at Middle School Matipota Ajas since 2024 without any formal order, further deepening the staff crisis.

The situation is equally grim in Primary School Vewan, which is currently operating within the premises of the high school.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe primary section has an enrollment of 73 students but is being handled by just a single teacher, making it nearly impossible to ensure quality education.

Locals have also expressed concern over the absence of subject-specific teachers, particularly for Science and Mathematics, which are crucial at the high school level. Students are reportedly struggling due to the lack of proper guidance in these core subjects.

Residents of the area have urged the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to address the issue by appointing adequate teaching staff, including a Headmaster and subject specialists, to safeguard the future of the students.

The matter highlights the urgent need for intervention from the education department to prevent further deterioration of the academic standards in the area. (KNS)
