Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and Awami Muthida Mahaz (AMM) leader Hakim Mohammad Yasin Sunday urged upon the state government to settle the issue of daily wagers and casual labourers at the earliest.
“The government a few days back regularized a daily wager whose daughter had secured first position in 10th class exams recently. We welcome this step, but it looks more of publicity stunt. If government is really concerned about the welfare of dailywagers and casual labourers it should regularize them without any further delay,” he said in a press statement.
Expressing his full support to the agitating workers, Hakim Yasin said, “We urge upon authorities to redress the long pending legitimate grievances of daily wagers and casual labourers, numbering thousands, who are protesting for last several months.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWe express full support to them and urge government to immediately fulfil their demands.”
The MLA Khansahib also said government should ensure that wages due to them are paid and process of regularisation is initiated without any further delay. “Despite assurances, wages are not being released regularly to these poor workers, forcing them to resort to protests,” he added.
