September Himalayan floods’ documentary releases

To commemorate September 2014 devastating floods, EMMRC of Kashmir University, is releasing its film on floods.
The film “September Himalayan Floods: (un)avoidable deluge” will be screened in the Media House auditorium Wednesday. The 32-minute film raises and tries to find out answers to various questions about the September 2014 floods that devastated Kashmir causes of floods and the people responsible for it. According to Dr ShahidRasool, director of the documentary, “During the making of this documentary we realised that there are more questions than answers.” The documentary focuses on the causes of the flood and tries to find out if it could have been avoided. Was it a man made or a natural disaster?Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe film also raises questions about our disaster management preparedness. Produced and directed by Dr ShahidRasool and InamulRehman, the camera work for the documentary has been done by Shahnawaz Shah and Gulzar Dar. The documentary would be screened today at 2:30 p.m at the EMMRC auditorium. The Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof. Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi will preside over the function expected to be attended by academics, technocrats, numbers of media and civil society, besides the invited media students of the valley. The screening of the film shall be followed by a panel discussion. The entry to the venue is strictly by invitation cards. (KNS)
