Srinagar, Jan 05 (KNS): The separatists Tuesday held a protest to press for implementation of the resolution passed by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on this day in 1949 calling for referendum in Jammu and Kashmir.
The separatist organization including, Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, International forum for justice & human rights and Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) staged demo in here, while several DFP activists were detained.
While talking to KNS, the protesters urged world community to intervene into the matter and appealed the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon to implement the January 5, 1949 UN resolution related to Kashmir.
The DFP activists after trying to match towards Lal Chowk here were detained by the police officials.
The Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement headed by senior separatist leader Zafar Akbar Bhat also staged a protest along with scores of his supporters.
He told KNS that Kashmir is a humanitarian issue but UN, despite passing resolution guaranteeing right to self determination, never took a serious note of the military oppression which innocent Kashmiris have been braving for past seven decades.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“The resolution of Kashmir issue through implementation of UN resolution can alone ensure abiding peace in the whole south Asian region,” he added.
International forum for justice & human rights headed by its chairman, Muhammad Ahsan untoo staged peaceful demonstration here in which a large number of children & youth participated and were demanding the implementation of 5th Jan resolution.
While talking to KNS, Untoo said that 5th January 1949 is an historic day in the history of Kashmir as on this day international community accepted the importance of recognizing the human & basic rights of Kashmiri people.
The resolution was also signed by Pakistani & Indian representatives thus accepting the importance of Kashmiris decision to choose their future. “More than fifty years have passed but this resolution is yet to be implemented while more than half a million Kashmiris were killed for asking the same,” he said.
