Seeking details of Kashmiri students studying outside state is dictatorial, mental harassment: Shah

Spokesperson criticizes admin over Shah's continuous detention

Srinagar, Mar 16: Reacting against the reports of Indian authorities seeking details of Kashmiri students studying in its various colleges and universities and keeping a close vigil over them, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah on Wednesday said the move is aimed at harassing the students mentally.
In a statement to KNS, Shah while criticising Indian authorities warned of serious repercussions if anything untoward happens with Kashmiri students.
"Students are our future and we will not let anyone play with their career. This approach by Indian government, particularly after the JNU row, is dictatorial, inhuman and unlawful and is aimed at ruining the career of these students and making them feel insecure," he said.
Shah said on one hand, Kashmiri youths are subjected to suppressive policies with lethal weapons being used against them at home, and on other side, our students studying outside state are also targetted under various pretexts.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He also termed it "biased" the reports of harassing of Kashmiri students by Rajasthan police and communal elements there and demanded immediate end to such anti-Kashmir activities.
Shah also commented on the illegal detention of SAR Geelani saying his only crime is that he belongs to Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, a DFP spokesperson while criticising the state administration over continuous detention of party chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah, said the pro-freedom leader is imprisoned to prevent him from carrying out his political activities and to create a gulf between him and the people.
"This detention is unjustified. Shah Sahib continues to be lodged in Rajbagh police station since February 25 without any orders. Since his release in 2011, Shah Sahib has been detained for a period of about 30 months including 186 Friday and 9 Eid prayers. This year, he continues to be imprisoned for 76 days, the spokesperson said. (KNS)
