Srinagar, Feb 19 (KNS): Three militants affiliated with Hizbul-Mujahideen militant outfit were killed in an encounter in Tral area of south Kashmir.
According to police official, the a joint party of CRPF, SOG and army had laid an ambush in paddy fields between Tral and Amirabad village on a tipoff about the movement of militants in the area.
He added, that three militants came in contact with forces and were asked to surrender, however they fired indiscriminately on the forces leading to an encounter.
The slain militants have been identified as Jehangir Ahmed wani resident of amirabad Tral, Raja Umer Bhat of Lurgam Tral, and Sadat Hussain Thoker of Bijbhehra Anantnag.

Referring to the Tral encounter the DGP said that in last six weeks six anti militancy successful operations have been conducted in Tral area and added that credit for these operations goes to the collective efforts of forces working tirelessly for peace and order in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that forces are firm to tackle any situation and any subversive act by the militants will be faced with fortitude.
DGP said they associated with Hizb-ul Mujahideen.
