Srinagar, Jan 17 (KNS): Director General of Police (DGP), J&K, Dilbagh Singh on Tuesday said that adequate arrangements have been made for Republic Day celebrations and Bhart Jodo Yatra which will enter into the boundaries of J&K from January 19 onwards.

“A high-level meeting of top police and security officials was held in which security arrangements for smooth conduct of upcoming Republic Day and Bharat Jodo Yatra were discussed. The final touch was given to security arrangements pertaining to upcoming Republic Day and Bharat Jodo Yatra”, the DGP Dilbagh Singh as per KNS told reporters on the sidelines of closing ceremony of J&K Police Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament at TRC Srinagar here.

The DGP said the Bharat Jodo Yatra is going to enter into J&K from January 19 onwards and the security for the said Yatra will be taken care of. “Adequate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure trouble free Bharat Jodo Yatra in J&K”, the DGP said.

Commenting on central Kashmir’s Budgam shootout in which two local militants were killed after a brief exchange of fire, the DGP said the operation was launched yesterday in Budgam, but after brief exchange of fire, the militants gave slip who however were traced again in the same district.

“The security agencies had prior inputs about movement of militants. However Naka was laid and two militants were trapped who were asked to stop but they tried to flee from the scene and subsequently fired upon the forces. The fire was retaliated and both militants belonging to LeT were killed”, the DGP said.

“The slain militants were hailing from south Kashmir’s Pulwama and were moving towards Srinagar. They left from their old hideout and were in search of new hideout”, the DGP added.

About Rajouri attack, the DGP said that police have got some clues during the investigation and soon the perpetrators of the crime will be brought to justice. He said “owing to dense wooden area the security forces have launched several operations to trace out the militants. We have got some clues and arrests will be made soon. The killers of innocents will be soon brought to justice”, he added. (KNS)
