Secretary Sports Council inspects National Coaching Camp in Srinagar

 
Srinagar July 18 (KNS): Secretary J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Gul today visited Pencak Silat national coaching camp which is being held in Indoor Sports Hall Pologround Srinagar from Ist July to 22 July of this month.

According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), this camp was aimed at preparing the team for the 19th World Pencak Silat Championship 2022 to be held at Melika Malaysia later this month.

The statement reads that around 38 players from different states as well as paramilitary forces including SSB are in taking part coaching camp. 

“The camp is being organised under the aegis of Malaysia Youth and Sports along with National Olympic Committee of Malaysia.”

While interacting with the players, Secretary J&K Sports Council took stock of the arrangements put in place for the participants including their boarding and lodging. 

She apprised the participants about the role J&K Sports Council is playing to provide the best training and coaching facilities and how during past few years the steps taken to lay requiste infrastructure has helped players take leaps in the national and international competitions. 

She was flanked by chief accounts officer JK Sports Council Dr Zaffar Iqbal.

She also appreciated the efforts made by the Pencak Silat Federation for conduct of the said camp in Kashmir, the place known for its rich hospitality and which has a tremendous potential to host big events like Asian Pencak Silat Championship 2022 in the month of September 2022, where we are expecting more than 15 countries officially.

The world championship is cleared by the Ministry of youth affairs and sports and J&K Sport's Council have also sponsored the J&K based athletes for the championship.

The athletes are training under the tutelage of battery of coaches including Mohammad Iqbal, Irfan Aziz Botta, Vinod Kumar (Haryana)
and Rajesh Kumar (Delhi). This is for the first time ever that National team will be flagged off from J&K. (KNS)
