Srinagar, Oct 21 (KNS): Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Art, Culture and Languages Dr Aziz Hajini today paid rich tributes to late Syed Ghulam Rasool Gayoor on his 11th death anniversary here.
Hajini said that Mr Gayoor was a great scholar, social and political leader, whose contribution to the Kashmiri society, art and literature cannot be forgotten.
“Kashmiri society owes a lot to the late Gayoor. He was a poet, writer and journalist of immense depth in his words. He always thought and worked selflessly for the people and society at large. On formation of Gayoor Cultural and Developmental Foundation, the secretary said that it is a great step to promote the scholarly work of late Gayoor.
He said that the cultural academy will provide all support to the Foundation for promotion of the scholarly work of late Gayoor.
Meanwhile, prominent writers, intellectuals, political and civil society leaders have paid rich tributes to Gayoor, who was killed on October 22, 2005, at his native village in Ratnipora in Pulwama district. (KNS)
