Srinagar, Jan 03 (KNS): Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Dr. Aziz Hajini, has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of noted Kashmiri poet, writer and academic Makhan Lal Kanwal who breathed his last at a Jammu based Hospital Sunday morning.
Upon hearing the news of Kanwal’s death, Hajini said the eminent poet-writer’s demise was a great loss to Kashmiri language in general and the writer’s community of Jammu & Kashmir in particular.
The Secretary Academy said that through his widely appreciated work in Kashmiri language, Kanwal had created a niche for himself and was respected by people both in and outside the State.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“A good ghazal writer, Kanwal was an awardee of our Academy and had also won the Sahitya Akademi award in the recent past,” Hajini said in his condolence message, adding, the late poet-writer had contributed a lot to the development of Kashmiri language, culture and literature for which he shall always be remembered.
While conveying his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, Hajini said that he and his colleagues in the Academy share the grief of the family and pray for eternal peace to the departed soul. (KNS)
