Srinagar, Jan 07 (KNS): Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Dr. Aziz Hajini today condoled the death of State Chief Minister and President Academy, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and said his contribution to public service in general and J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in particular will always be remembered.
Expressing his heartfelt condolences on the passing away of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who was also President of the Academy, Dr. Hajini said that the Academy as an institution is shocked over the demise of its visionary President.
“He was a very cultural conscious President and it was under his patronage that we were able to reopen several important cultural centres which had remained closed for a long time due to one reason or the other,” Hajini disclosed.
Pertinently, it was under the dynamic leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as President Academy that three important cultural centres -Tagore Hall, Srinagar, Abhinav Theatre, Jammu and Kitab Ghar, Srinagar were re-opened in a record time span of just eight months after the Government took over the reins of the State in March, 2015.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“Just before he fell ill, Mufti saheb wanted to restore the autonomy of the Academy in letter and spirit and had even issued instructions for convening of a meeting of Academy’s Central Committee and General Council on 4th January, 2016 wherein a broad-based cultural policy for Jammu and Kashmir State was slated to be adopted”, he said.
In his condolence message the Secretary Academy also stated that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed wanted complete revival of cultural ethos of the State.
“I am deeply pained to learn of his demise. Whenever I met him he used to say that culture is an important sector of our State and wanted us to promote it whole hog,” Hajini said, adding, the demise of the leader is an irreparable loss to J&K State. (KNS)
