SE Hydraulic Circle Anantnag reviews irrigation network

 Anantnag, May 3 (KNS): With the ongoing irrigation season underway, the Superintending Engineer (SE) of the Hydraulic Circle Anantnag, Engineer Sareer Ahamed Wani, on Sunday conducted a comprehensive field inspection of the Irrigation Sub-Division Bijbehara to assess the readiness of the water supply network.

 
The SE, accompanied by the Executive Engineer of Irrigation Division Anantnag and the Assistant Executive Engineer of Irrigation Sub-Division Bijbehara, inspected key water distribution assets including Dadi, Awantipora, Beora, Mahind Canals, Mercheh Khul, and several lift irrigation schemes.
 
During the visit, the SE carried out detailed inspections of headworks and identified vulnerable spots along canal banks that require immediate attention. He was briefed by the Executive Engineer on the operational readiness and overall functioning of the irrigation network.
 
Emphasising the critical nature of the irrigation season, the SE directed field staff to maintain constant monitoring of water supplies and enforce strict regulation measures to ensure fair and equitable distribution across all command areas.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
In an official statement, the SE said all field engineers must remain stationed at their respective camp offices throughout the irrigation period. He also stressed that all ongoing maintenance and repair works be completed within fixed timelines to avoid disruption to agricultural activities.
 
The inspection also included a review of works being executed under the CDF framework. The SE assessed the quality of work and urged officials to expedite pending tasks while maintaining technical standards.
 
Reaffirming the department’s commitment to farmers and the general public, the SE assured that genuine concerns would be addressed promptly and irrigation demands met with priority.
 
Officers from the Irrigation and Flood Control Departments, including Assistant Executive Engineers, Junior Engineers, and other field staff, were also part of the inspection team. (KNS)
