Srinagar 09 May (KNS): Former legislator and senior Peoples Conference leader Mansoor Hussain Sohrawardhy has expressed serious concern over the tardy services being provided to the COVID-19 infected people in sub-district hospitals of Shangus and Achabal.

In a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Mansoor termed the reports extremely disturbing according to which people hailing from the Shangus, Achabal, and adjoining areas are facing immense hardships due to the dearth of COVID-19 health infrastructure in sub-district hospitals there.

Mansoor said that it was worrying to find the Kraad area of Shangus has been declared as a Red Zone due to the sudden and drastic spike in COVID-19 cases. “It is high time that the government must equip the sub-district hospitals besides the district hospital of Anantnag with all the requisite facilities which include an adequate supply of oxygen dedicated COVID beds and ample stock of COVID vaccines.

Such measures are needed desperately to save peoples precious lives and not to compel them to rush to already over-packed city hospitals,” Mansoor said.

The PC leader also urged the government to consider the demands of the ASHA workers in Jammu and Kashmir who are working tirelessly amid the present crisis on meagre wages.

He said these frontline warriors deserve the government’s appreciation and attention and their demands including incentives, better pay, and protection from infection amid the raging coronavirus crisis must be granted on priority.(KNS)
