JAMMU, Mar 18 (KNS) : Amidst a massive influx of pilgrims for the Navratri festival, the Northern Railways' Jammu division has deployed special teams of Scouts and Guides to manage crowds and streamline passenger movement at key railway stations, officials said on Wednesday.
An official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) with a heavy rush of devotees heading for the holy darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi, stations including Jammu and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra are witnessing significant pressure on infrastructure.
He said to address this, the Railway Administration has mobilized trained Scouts and Guides to assist the security apparatus on the ground.
He said, the volunteers are tasked with maintaining orderly queues, assisting elderly and differently-abled passengers, and coordinating with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) during emergencies.

A primary objective of the deployment is to prevent overcrowding in specific pockets by ensuring smooth dispersal of passengers the official added.
Meanwhile, senior divisional commercial manager Uchit Singhal speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) emphasized that the initiative is designed to enhance passenger facilitation. "The discipline of the Scouts and Guides will be instrumental in managing the crowds. They will play a crucial role in guiding passengers and providing special assistance to the elderly," Singhal said.
The officer also urged pilgrims to travel light, maintain patience, and follow instructions issued by security personnel and volunteers to ensure a safe and smooth journey. (KNS)
