Srinagar January 10 (KNS): The Department of Education in Languages commemorated the work and contributions of Kashmiri poet, translator, and critic, Rehamn Rahi at his first Death anniversary today in the central hall of SCERT-KD
Under the inspirational leadership of Director SCERT-JK, Prof.Dr.Pariksht Singh Manhas.
 
The Department of Education in Languages organized and conducted an important session wherein the eminent educationists, Poets, critics, and the Officers of SCERT-JK paid rich tributes to Rehman Rahi for his outstanding contributions in enriching the priceless cultural ethos, poetry, and literary criticism in Kashmiri Language. The speakers recalled Rehman Rahi as the leading poet of the Kashmiri language who has made some pathbreaking contributions in the promotion of Kashmiryat, peace, and brotherhood. Rahi has also been honored with the country's highest literary award "Gyan Peeth" in 2004.
  While speaking at this occasion, Senior Academic Officer (Central Office) Riyaz Ahmed Dar, Academic Officer (Provincial Office Kashmir) Sheikh Gulzar Ahmad, and Syed Hamid Bukhari, spoke about Rehman Rahi's poetry and art, while the host of the program, Senior Academic Officer (Department of Education in Languages) I/C Urdu and Kashmiri.  Shabir Hussain Shabir threw light on Rehman Rahi's literary journey, his academic career, and his distinctive style, tone, and art in poetry. He said that Rahman Rahi has achieved the same status in Kashmiri as the Legendary Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib has got in Urdu.  Dr. Sajjad Ahmed Mir presided over the program and welcomed the innovative steps initiated by Ic Urdu & Kashmiri Mr Shabir Hussain Shabir in recalling the contributions of the sons of the soil in different areas of interest. He hoped that the initiative would be seen as a best practice and people from the different strata of society would be invited to SCERT to share their areas of influence and contributions made during their active lifetime to transfer the enriched experiences to younger generations. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Senior Academic Officer Gulzar Ahmad Dar in his unique style.(KNS)
