Srinagar, Dec 14 (KNS): The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the Central government to submit the report prepared by an Expert Committee regarding the use of pellet guns by security forces during the prevailing uprising in Kashmir.
Hearing the petition filed by Jammu & Kashmir High Court Advocates Association, a bench comprising Chief Justice TS Thakur and Justice DY Chandrachud asked the Central Government to submit the report prepared by the ‘expert committee’, which was earlier constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, on July 26 this year.
The High Court had earlier dismissed the matter before filing of the report by the Expert Committee and a decision taken at the government level, “we are not inclined to prohibit the use of pellet guns in rare and extreme situations.”
The matter was later taken to the SC where a petition was filed against the HC decision.
The petitioner challenged the HC order saying that the High Court should have kept the matter pending till the Expert Committee submitted its report and should have then examined the matter after calling for the report.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
