Srinagar, May 11 (KNS) : A review meeting regarding the progress of works and assets under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen (SBM-G) was held under the chairpersonship of Director General Rural Sanitation, J&K Anoo Malhotra.
During the meeting, a detailed review of the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) progress and the status of ongoing and completed works across all districts was undertaken. The DG stressed upon all districts to ensure timely completion of ongoing works within the stipulated timelines.
Laying emphasis on efficient planning, prompt execution, and regular monitoring of all approved projects under SBM-G, the DG also reviewed the status and progress of key SBM-G assets, including Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants (#FSTPs), #GOBARDhan projects, Community Sanitary Complexes (CSCs), and other sanitation infrastructure established under the mission.
She further informed that sanitation plans of all districts shall be reviewed comprehensively to assess implementation strategies, identify existing gaps, and strengthen effective on-ground execution of sanitation initiatives.

He underscored the importance of maintaining quality standards and adhering strictly to prescribed timelines to ensure timely public benefit and sustainable sanitation outcomes.
The DG also directed all Assistant Commissioners Panchayat (ACPs) to ensure effective implementation of Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules across districts.
A detailed presentation on proper source segregation and scientific waste management practices as envisaged under the #SWM Rules-2026 was also delivered during the meeting for orientation and subsequent implementation in the districts.
The DG directed all concerned officers to expedite pending works, strengthen monitoring mechanisms, and ensure timely submission of progress reports for effective review and follow-up action.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioners Panchayat (ACPs), Executive Engineers, officers, and consultants of the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Directorate of Rural Sanitation, J&K. (KNS)
