Banihal, Sept 19 (KNS): J&K National Conference leader and district president Ramban Sajjad Shaheen has expressed grief over the damage to property in a fire incident at main market Khari in Banihal Constituency. The fire incident occurred during the intervening night of 18th - 19th September in which more than two dozen shops and other business establishments worth crores were reduced to ashes.
According to statement issued to KNS reads, While expressing sympathies with the victims during his visit to Khari, Shaheen assured them of every possible help. He also urged the district administration to carry out relief and rehabilitation measures for the victims of the fire incident.
He said that there is an immediate need of establishing well-equipped fire service stations across the district, adding that in hilly areas such stations should be opened at block level.
He further said that the delayed response by the fire service department has raised a question mark on preparedness of the department and the Government in tackling the fire incidents in Ramban district and other parts of the State.
Shaheen has demanded setting up of fire service stations at Khari, Mahoo, Ramsoo, Neel, Ukharhal to cater the needs of the people in the area.
He was accompanied by party office bearers of Tehsil Khari.(KNS)
