Poonch, Sep 14 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police chief Nalin Prabhat on Monday visited the border district of Poonch and reviewed the overall security situation and ongoing counter-terrorism operations, officials said.
Prabhat was accompanied by IGP Jammu Zone Tejinder Singh during the day-long visit, which focused on the security arrangements in the district, ongoing operations and the situation along the border areas.
The review also focused on operations linked to terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and operating from across the border in Pakistan, police said.
The DGP chaired a high-level security review meeting at the District Police Office in Poonch, which was attended by DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Sandeep Wazir, SSP Poonch Shafqat Hussain and other senior officers.
The meeting reviewed the prevailing operational situation, security measures and progress in ongoing operations against terrorists.
Officials also discussed efforts to track down active terrorist elements and ensure effective action against them.

The security arrangements in different parts of the district, including area domination and surveillance, were also reviewed.
Authorities emphasised the need to maintain heightened vigilance in sensitive areas and ensure an immediate response to any suspicious movement to prevent terrorist elements from disrupting peace and security.
The border security grid was also reviewed in detail, with officials directed to maintain a high level of alertness and further strengthen security arrangements to thwart any possible infiltration attempt from across the border.
Prabhat stressed that close coordination among all security agencies was essential to maintain peace and security in the district and effectively counter terrorist threats.
Officials said coordinated efforts to strengthen surveillance, counter-terrorism operations and border security would continue in Poonch.(KNS)
