Banihal, March 25 (KNS) : National Conference (NC) leader and district president, Ramban Mr Sajjad Shaheen has  expressed serious concern over the precarious power situation in Banihal and its peripheral areas including Gool during the holy month of Ramadan. He said the electricity woes continue unabated in the region as people are immensely suffering due to unscheduled power cuts particularly during Sehri and Iftaar time.

Shaheen during his day long tour to several remote villages that include Pogal, Panchal, Nowra in Tehsil Ukharhal said that Since the onset of holy month of Ramadan, Banihal and its peripheral areas have been witnessing unusual power cuts causing a strong resentment against the administration who had claimed to provide round the clock supply in the holy month of Ramadan.

He said that every day when the Iftar time is close, suddenly the power supply is shut down. Every house cannot afford power backups like inverters. People have to use artificial light or candles to light up the room. He has also urged the J&K administration to ensure adequate supplies of essentials particularly ration, sugar and kerosene oil, LPG Cylinders besides un-interrupted electricity and drinking water during the month of holy Ramadan.
