Srinagar, Oct 08 (KNS): While condemning the killing of 12 year old boy, CPI (M) leader, Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami on Saturday said that Saidapora killing was avoidable.
Junaid Ahmad (12), who was hit by pellets in Saidpora area of Eidgah on Friday evening, succumbed to his injuries at SK Institute of Medical Sciences Soura early Saturday.
“It is a shameful. It was avoidable. What the government is doing? We have been trying but government is not listening,” said Tarigami.
“We are now short of words and it is not enough to condemn the civilian killings but we want to ask the state government that how long the civilian killings will continue in Kashmir,” he questioned.
He expressed solidarity with the victim family and prayed for eternal peace to departed soul.
He said that the people of Kashmir are yet to see the promise made by Home Minister Rajnath Singh to be fulfilled wherein he had said that use of pellets would be put to an end.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“The pellets are officially being termed as non-lethal weapon. But it is open to all that this non-lethal has proved to be a lethal and claimed precious human lives in the Kashmir,” he said.
He said that all opposition parties have expressed concern over use of pellet guns during the recently held Parliament session.
“In J&K too all opposition parties demand an end to pellets. Besides opposition parties, civil societies in India and Kashmir have raised similar demand. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had assured us during his recent visit to Kashmir that steps will be taken. But unfortunately nothing changed on ground,” he added. (KNS)
