Delhi, Sep 30 (KNS): Sahitya Akademy organised an online session in the memory of renowned Kashmiri writer, scholar, critic, former Secretary of J&K Academy Of Art, Culture and Languages and twice elected convenor (Kashmiri) of National Academy Of Letters, Sahitya Akademi New Delhi, Dr.Aziz Hajini who recently left for the heavenly abode on 11th Sep 2021, a tributary programme was organised through virtual mode by Sahitya Akademi. Dozens of literary stalwarts from across India participated in the National Level programme and payed glowing tributes to Dr Aziz Hajini.

"On March 27th  2021, i.e·,six months ago,Aziz Hajini told me to write a few lines for his forthcoming book 'Aziz Hajini: Man & the Mission 'compiled by his son and son-in-law; I used the present tense to refer to him in those lines but who knew just after six months of that incident I will be using past tense for him,such is the unpredictability of human life”, says Sanjakta Das Gupta, Convener English Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. Secretary Sahitya Akademi, K. Sreenivasarao states, ‘’He was such a man who made deep impact in everyone's life".

He while paying glowing tributes to late Dr.Hajini assured that the National Akademi of Letters will ascertain that the literary works of Aziz Hajini and other works in Kashmiri are translated into other Indian languages so that the readers of other regions and  parts of the country also get benefited from the great ideas and philosophy of the great author/s. He further added.

G N Atish convener Sahitya Akademi’s Kashmiri Advisory Board stated that the deceased author and poet was not only limited to boundaries of  Kashmir but was a national figure.

In his speech, Professor Zaman Azurdah shared some great memories of the deceased  poet. He also said that it is our primary responsibility to remember our great literary and cultural icons and carry forward their great mission.

Furthermore, Professor Farooq Fayaz while recollecting the memories of thirty seven years of friendship with Aziz Hajini stated that the most striking feature of his personality was that he never compromised on talent.

He added by commenting that even though he was a close friend of Hajini but, the late author would only invite him on occasions where he could offer his expertise. “I salute my friend for leaving a legacy behind,” he added.

Hajini's elder son, Azhar Hajini was also present in the meet who while getting emotional recollected his father's literary and personal personage. He thanked Secretary Sahitya Akademi for organising the programme in the memory of his late father. He further threw light on the book 'Aziz Hajini: The Man & The Mission' which is compiled by him in collaboration with Irshad ul Islam. At the close, by referring to World Translation Day, he requested Sahitya Akademi to help him in carrying his father's mission forward by translating more literary works of other languages into Kashmiri and also intimated about upcoming release of three books on his father's fortieth.

Shakir Shafi, President HAS prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and assured  that  HAS would carry forward the legacy of remembering great sons of the soil especially those who have contributed to literature, art and ethos of this heavenly place.

Others who spoke about the life and other impressive dimensions of late Dr.Hajini include Dr D Borah, Dr Rafiq Masoodi, Sanjukta Das Gupta, Prof Bashar Bashir, Dr Vanita, Gauri Shankar Raina, B N Betab, Wali Mohammad Aseer, Shanum Tilgami, Prof Shaad Ramzaan, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Ali Shaida.
