Srinagar Oct 25 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Tuesday paid obeisance at Hazrat Peer Dastgeer Sahib (RA) Shrine in Khanyar.

On his visit, he interacted with the local Intezamia committee members and devotees and took note of their grievances regarding preparations ahead of Urs Mubarak.

Expressing concern over the inordinate delay in the restoration work of the shrine complex, Sagar said, “The shrine unfortunately got damaged in a conflagration. The Omar Abdullah led government didn't spare any effort to restore the edifice back to its pristine glory. Rs 20 crore were sanctioned by the then Omar Abdullah led government for the reconstruction works. Much of the work was executed in our stint in government, since then the restoration work has been consigned to deep cold storage. Eight years on, the remaining restoration work is still incomplete."

Among others Youth Block President Abid Wani and local party unit functionaries were also present on the occasion.

Sagar impressed upon the district administration to make all possible arrangements for the forthcoming Urs. He asked the divisional administration to ensure uninterrupted power and water deliverance to the shrine and adjoining areas in view of the forthcoming Urs observance days.
“Proper sanitation in and around the shrine should be maintained. Admin must ensure smooth  traffic mobility on the routes leading to the shrine.”

Sagar also sought a devotee facilitation center at the shrine to address the inconvenience, if any, faced by the devotees. (KNS)
