JAMMU, February 18 (KNS): National Conference Additional General Secretary and former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra visited the residence of veteran leader and former Minister Peerzada Ghulam Ahmed Shah at Qazigund in Kashmir to personally offer condolences to the bereaved family and share in their grief.
During the visit, Mr Sadhotra interacted with a large number of mourners, party colleagues and well-wishers who had gathered to pay their respects to the departed leader. He expressed profound sorrow over the demise of Peerzada Shah, describing it as a deep personal loss and a significant setback to public life in Jammu and Kashmir.
Recalling the outstanding qualities of Peerzada Shah, Sadhotra said he was a rare blend of intellect and empathy, a leader endowed with both head and heart. “Peerzada Sahib created a distinct niche for himself as an able administrator and a sagacious political leader who always placed public interest above all else,” he said.
Mr Sadhotra said that Peerzada Shah’s political journey was marked by simplicity and humility. He said the late leader earned respect across regions and political divides through his inclusive outlook and principled conduct.
Hebelieved that governance must be humane and responsive, and this belief reflected in every responsibility he shouldered, Mr Sadhotra added. He consistently championed the cause of the marginalised and the voiceless, irrespective of region, religion or caste,” he said.
Sadhotra said Peerzada Shah remained accessible to the people throughout his public life and treated every grievance with seriousness and sensitivity.
Describing his demise as creating a void that would be difficult to fill, Sadhotra said leaders like Peerzada Shah leave behind a legacy that continues to guide future generations. His contribution to public life and to the strengthening of democratic institutions will be remembered with respect and gratitude, he said.
Mr Sadhotra conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for strength and courage for them to bear the irreparable loss. He also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul, saying Peerzada Ghulam Ahmed Shah would be remembered as a compassionate leader, a committed administrator and a true servant of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
