Sadhotra slams BJP’s diversionary politics, lauds CM’s outreach in flood-hit Jammu

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 2 (KNS): National Conference Additional General Secretary and former Minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, today came down heavily on the Leader of Opposition, Mr. Sunil Sharma, for lowest political depth and insensitivity by maliciously accusing Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah of not showing concern for flood-ravaged Jammu.

Sadhotra visited flood affected areas of Badyal Brahmana in R.S. Pura. “It was because of the Chief Minister’s personal supervision and consistent engagement that the administration was fully geared up, which significantly minimized the sufferings of the affected population across the Jammu region”, Mr Sadhotra said while interacting with people of Badyal Brahmana. Mr. Sadhotra said that Mr. Sharma’s unfounded allegations are nothing but a diversionary tactic by the Bharatiya Janata Party to cover up its own failures.

He noted that despite the catastrophic damages caused by torrential rains, the Chief Minister’s quick response, regular reviews, and outreach to ground-zero areas ensured that rescue, relief and restoration work was carried out in a timely manner. Taking strong exception to the BJP’s insensitivity, Sadhotra said the Union Home Minister’s just concluded visit has ended up in nothing but disappointment for the people of Jammu. “The announcement of just Rs 209 Crore as relief is not only inadequate but an insult to the sufferings of rain-hit Jammu. This paltry sum has dismayed Jammuites, especially when seen against the massive damages and colossal loss caused by incessant rains and floods,” he said. Sadhotra said that the people of Jammu had reposed their faith in the BJP by giving it a massive mandate in the 2024 Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections, but the outcome of Mr Amit Shah’s visit has been nothing short of betrayal. “The people expected a substantial relief package, but instead they have been handed over mere peanuts.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThis indifference has deeply hurt public sentiments,” he added.
