Srinagar, October 6 (KNS): The South Asia Centre for Peace and Peoples Empowerment (SACPPE), in partnership with The Asian Institute of Transport Development (AITD) and the Motor Vehicles Department of Jammu and Kashmir (MVD), conducted a three-day training program from October 4 to 6, here. 


The initiative was sponsorship by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) and revolved around the pivotal theme of “Role of CMVA & CMVR in Road Safety and Enforcement.”

The aim of the training was to bridge knowledge gaps regarding the latest technological advancements and amendments in the Central Motor Vehicles Act (CMVA) and Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR). 

MORTH entrusted AITD with the responsibility of conducting these enlightening sessions nationwide, with a specific focus on educating and informing officials associated with transport and traffic departments across India. The emphasis was on crucial updates related to road safety, aimed at enhancing awareness and responsible practices.
The program witnessed an impressive turnout of traffic and transport officers who eagerly participated in the comprehensive workshop. This collaborative effort between SACPPE, AITD, MVD, and MORTH is paving the way for a more advanced and safer future for transportation on the roads of Jammu and Kashmir.

The grand finale of the training program, the valedictory ceremony, was nothing short of inspirational. RTO Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, delivered a powerful message about the necessity of a continuous action plan. He highlighted the indispensable role of dedicated officers in controlling violations and raising awareness among road users, thereby fostering a responsible and law-abiding society.

Assistant Transport Commissioner J&K, Mubashir Jan, emphasized the significance of data-based research in transforming the transport sector. He stressed the need for evidence-based policies and actions to enhance road safety, ensuring the well-being of all commuters.

Dr. Parvaiz Sofi, Director Ujala Cygnus Kashmir, illuminated attendees on BLS (Basic Life Support), Trauma Care, and the practical application of CPR, underlining the importance of life-saving skills in the context of road accidents.

In his vote of thanks, Sandeep Kumar, coordinator of the workshop, expressed gratitude to all participants and announced that similar programs will be conducted regularly in Jammu and Kashmir. With the collaborative efforts of SACPPE, AITD, MVD, and MORTH, this training program stands as a significant milestone toward a safer and more responsible transportation system in Jammu and Kashmir, ultimately benefiting the entire nation.

The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where participants received certificates of participation and awards of appreciation for their commitment to improving road safety and contributing to a brighter future on India's roads.(KNS)
