Ruling PDP legislators for blanket ban on begging

‘It does not create a good impression about Kashmir’

Srinagar, June 25 (KNS): Ruling PDP legislator today demanded imposition of ban on begging in the state.
While speaking during Zero Hour in Lower House of the legislature, MLA Wachi advocate Aijaz Ahmad Mir said that beggars have wrought havoc in the state, especially in Valley.
He said that beggars from outside the state have created havoc on streets, roads, public and religious places.
“Traffic lights have become a new stop for these beggars. Masjid, Shrines, temples have become no-go areas for worshippers because of the begging menace,” Mir said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that since the tourist season is ongoing, beggars have occupied these places and chase the visitors for alms.
“It does not create a good impression about Kashmir that beggars are haunting the tourists. Tourists would be thinking that whole Kashmiris are begging,” he said.
“I appeal the government to impose complete ban on begging in the state, so that this menace is curbed,” he said. (KNS)
