Condemns ‘political vengeance’ on resistance leaders, employees

Srinagar, Oct 23 (KNS): Strongly condemning the “political vengeance” on the resistance leaders by the state administration, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Sunday said “we are passing through worst phase of the history of Jammu Kashmir”.
In a statement issued to KNS, DFP general secretary Moulana Abdullah Tari while terming the administration’s approach as ‘cruel” and “dictatorial” said the lust for power has made these rulers so arrogant that they broke all the records of tyranny and brutality.
Criticizing the state government’s attitude of not allowing the sons of ailing Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Geelani to meet their ailing father and arresting them, Moulana Tari said this is extremely shameful activity and unjustified act. “The present political dispensation is hell bent on targeting each and every person associated with the freedom movement,” he said.
Terming the continuous arrest of resistance leaders Shabir Ahmad Shah, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Muhammad Yasin Malik as based on political vengeance, Tari said: “We wonder what happened to the slogans of ‘battle of ideas’ and ‘no bullets but talks’. The deteriorating health of Muhammad Yasin Malik and continuous arrest of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is a matter of serious concern for us. Authorities deliberately play with the health of Malik Sahib.”
Moulana also lashed out at authorities for their inhuman treatment with the chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) Syeda Aasiya Andrabi who is lodged in Baramulla sub-jail. “Mohtarma Aasiya Andrabi is not provided medical facilities which have led to further deterioration of her health. She is meting inhuman treatment in the jail,” he said.
Terming the suppressive measures by government as unconstitutional, Moulana said, “We have been resisting such oppression for the last 70 years but have never succumbed to such cruel tactics of government.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelDespite spending major portion of his life in jails, Shabir Ahmad Shah exhibited utmost steadfastness and we salute his spirit and resolve.”
The DFP general secretary while condemning the continuous state-wide arrests and shifting of the arrestees to outside state jails said this reveals the frustration of the ruling class. “The rulers have lost both vision and strategy and are only concerned of power. They live in a fool’s paradise that people will forgive them for their misdeeds,” he said.
Lashing out at state police, Moulana said arresting son in lieu of father seems to be enshrined in the agenda of alliance. “The octogenarian fathers are arrested and humiliated in police stations as police fail to arrest their sons. This is extremely condemnable,” he said.
Criticizing administration over keeping Khurram Parvez under continuous detention, Tari said the place where human rights defenders aren’t spared one can very well imagine the fate of a common person.
The DFP general secretary also condemned the government’s approach against the employees saying, “The government that subjects its own men (employees) to such worst kind of suppression – suspends them, withholds their salaries, and even book many of them under draconian laws, cannot but be termed as irresponsible.”
Expressing strong resentment over the arrest of the employees’ association president Abdul Qayoom Wani, Moulana Tari said the administration is targeting a very conscious class of the society. “This is intolerable. We won’t leave employees at the mercy of the tyrant regime,” he added. (KNS)
