Srinagar, Nov 24 (KNS): Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Monday said he will join protesting students again if the government does not resolve the pending recruitment issue by the end of the Parliament session on December 20.
“I will sit with them again the way we did last December, and this time it will not be for a day only,” he said.
In a detailed statement, Mehdi questioned the government over the delay in addressing what he described as a long-standing concern of aspirants affected by recruitment irregularities and administrative delays.
He referred to the recent developments at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, where students with merit raised objections regarding the recruitment process.
Mehdi asked why repeated timelines given to students had not been met. He said the administration had earlier assured that the issue would be resolved within six months, but that period extended to a year.
According to him, another assurance was given a few weeks before the Budgam Assembly election, suggesting the matter would be addressed within “a few days,” but no formal clarification or outcome was communicated.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said the prolonged delay had already led to the loss of academic years and vacancies for aspirants and questioned whether future decisions could compensate for the time already lost.
Mehdi asked whether the issue remained unresolved due to personal or political considerations.
The MP said he was willing to step aside from the matter for a month if it helped authorities engage directly with students to reach a solution.
He said the administration should meet the aspirants, review their concerns and settle the issue “rationally,” even if it meant distancing the students from him politically.
Mehdi said the problem affected the careers of an entire group of young people and urged the government to address it during the ongoing Parliament session.
He reiterated that if the matter remained unsettled after December 20, he would resume joining the students in their protest as he had done last year.(KNS).
