G R Sufi , Raja Muzaffar, EPG condole his death

SRINAGAR May 9 (KNS): Noted Right to Information activist and senior member of J&K RTI Movement and Trustee Environmental Policy Group (EPG)  Mohammad Ramzan Khan breathed his last in Srinagar on Sunday morning. Khan, 70  who originally hailed from Gurez valley of Bandipora had been putting up at Kralpora Srinagar for the last 11 years.

Chairman J&K RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat described him as a committed social activist who worked throughout his life for promoting Shina culture and ensuring transparency and good governance through RTI Act. 

Mohammad Ramzan Khan was one of the founding members of the J&K RTI Movement and its trustee as well. He was also a founder member and trustee of Srinagar based Environmental Policy Group (EPG) as well.

Former State Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) G R Sufi, Convener EPG Faiz Bakshi, Chairman Peoples Forum Syed Nasarullah and retired Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) O P Sharma have also condoled his death. They described Khan as a great naturalist who was always concerned about Kashmir’s environment, heritage and culture.  

The deceased was also a known Shina language activist who played a great role in bringing shina language into the school curriculum. He was General Secretary of Dard Shin Development Organisation (DSDO).

Among others who condoled his death included former Chief Executive Director WUCMA Mian Javid Hussain, Former Director Animal Husbandry Dr Farooq Kaloo, President TAAK and Spokesman RTIM Farooq Kuthoo, RTI activists Mushtaq Khan, Shahnawaz Sultan, Mir Yaseen, Rasikh Rasool, Umar Javid, Bilal Bhat and others.(KNS)
