Srinagar, May 13 (KNS): A tragic road accident near Hut Marah, Seer Grid Station in the Mattan area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district Saturday evening claimed the lives of a motorist and his pillion rider.
An official said that the incident took place near the Hutmurah grid station, when a vehicle collided with a scooty, resulting in the on spot death of the motorist.
Meanwhile, the pillion rider sustained injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment where succumbed to his injuries.
The official have confirmed the identities of the deceased as Fayaz Ahmad Malik and Riyaz Ahmad Hajam, residents of Shimhal, Anantnag. He said that the police have taken cognizance of the incident.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag, Fakhrudin Hamid, said that he has requested a comprehensive report from the concerned officials of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department regarding the ongoing macadamization work near Seer and Hut Marah.
The DC has expressed concern over the blocking of one tube of the Anantnag-Pahalgam road and seeks detailed information to assess the situation.(KNS)
